AULI: Auli is a ski destination in Chamoli district in the Himalayan mountains of Uttarakhand, India. Auli also known as AuliBugyal, in Garhwal which means “Meadows”, is located at an elevation of 2500 meters to 3050 meters above sea level. After the creation of the state of Uttarakhand formerly part of Uttar Pradesh, Auli was marketed as a tourist destination. Auli lies on the way to the Hindi pilgrimage destination of Badrinath. It is surrounded by coniferous and oak forests, with a panoramic view of the peaks of the Himalayas.


KEDARNATH: Kedarnath is a town in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and has gained importance because of Kedarnath temple. It is a Nagar panchayat in Rudraprayag district. The most remote of the four Chota Char Dham sites Kedarnath is located in the Himalayas, about 3583m above sea level near the chorabari glacier, the head of river Mandakini and is flanked by snow-capped peaks. The nearest road head is at Gaurikund.


NANDA DEVI NATIONAL PARK: Nanda Devi national park or Nanda Devi Biosphere reserve in1998 is a national park situated around the peak of Nanda Devi in the state of Uttarakhand in northern India. The entire parks lie at an elevation of more than 3500m above the sea level. The national park was inscribed on a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1988. The later was expanded and renamed to Nanda Devi and valley of flowers national park in 2005.


RISHIKESH: Rishikesh is a city, municipal corporation and a tehsil in Dehradun district of the Indian state, Uttarakhand. Located in the foothills of the Himalayas in northern India, it is known as the Gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas and yoga capital of the world. It is approximately 25km north of the city Haridwar and 43km southeast of the state capital Dehradun. According to census of india, 2011 Rishikesh had a population of 102,138 making it the seventh most populated city and in the state of Uttarakhand. It is known as the pilgrimage town and regarded as one of the holiest places of Hindus.


VALLEY OF FLOWERS:- Is an Indian park, located in west Himalayan, in the state of Uttarakhand and is known for its meadows of endemic alpine flowers and the variety of flora. This richly diverse area is also home to rare and endangered animals including the Asiatic black bear, snow leopard, musk deer, brown bear, red fox and blue sheep. Birds found in the park including Himalayan monal pheasant and other high altitude birds.


 

YAMUNOTRI: Yamunotri is the source of the Yamuna river and the seat of the goddess Yamuna in Hinduism. It is situated at an altitude of 3,293 meters in the Garhwal Himalayas and located approximately 30km north of Uttarkashi, India it is one of the four sites in India Chota Char Dham pilgrimage. The sacred shrine of the Yamunotri source of the river Yamuna is the westmost shrine in the Garhwal Himalayas.


CHORABARI TAL: Is a small lake holding crystal clear water. Chorabarital is also known as Gandhi Sarovar because it is situated on the mouth of the chorabari bamak glacier. Gandhi Sarovar lies on the foot of Kedarnath and kirthi stambh peak at an astounding altitude of 3900mts above sea level. Gandhi Sarovar blesses the traveller with invigorating views of the imposing Himalayan peaks. It is advised to visit Gandhi Sarovar/chorabarital early in the morning.


TUNGNATH: Is the highest Shiva temple in the world and is the highest of the five Panchkedar temples located in the mountain range of Tungnath in Rudraprayag district, in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The Tungnath mountain from the Mandakini and Alaknanda river valleys. Located at an altitude of 3680m and just below the peak of ChandrashilaTungnath temple is the highest Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva.


 

GOMUKH: Gomukh is also known as “Gaumukh”, is the terminus or snout of the Gangotri glacier and the source of the Bhagirathi river, one of the primary headstreams of the Ganges river. The place is situated at a height of 13,200ft in Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand India. It is one of the largest in the Himalayas with an estimated volume of over27 cubic kilometres. It is popular Hindu pilgrimage site, along with Gangotri, as well as trekking destination. The word “Gomukh/Gaumukh” literally means “mouth of a cow”. According to some sayings, earlier the snout exactly looked like the “mouth of a cow”.


RUDRANATH: Rudranath is a Hindu temple dedicated to god Shiva, located in the Garhwal Himalayan mountains in Uttarakhand, India. Located at 3600 meters above sea level, this natural rock temple is situated within a dense forest of rhodederon dwarfs and Alpine pastures. The temple is the third temple to be visited in the Panchkedar pilgrimage circuit, comprising five Shiva temples in the Garhwal region. The other temples in the circuit include, Kedarnath and  Tungnath to be visited before Rudranath and Madhyamaheshwar and Kalpeshwar to be visited after Rudranath.
