Haridwar is regarded as one of the seven holiest places (Sapta Puri) to Hindus. According to the Samudra manthan, Haridwar along with Ujjain, Nashik and Prayag (Allahabad) is one of four sites where drops of Amrit, the elixir of immortality, accidentally spilled over from the pitcher while being carried by the celestial bird Garuda. This is manifested in the Kumbha Mela, which is celebrated every 12 years in Haridwar. During the Haridwar Kumbh Mela, millions of pilgrims, devotees, and tourists congregate in Haridwar to perform ritualistic bathing on the banks of the river Ganges to wash away their sins to attain Moksha. Brahma Kund, the spot where the Amrit fell, is located at Har ki Pauri (literally, “footsteps of the Lord“) and is considered to be the most sacred ghat of Haridwar.[4] It is also the primary center of the Kanwar pilgrimage, in which millions of participants gather sacred water from the Ganga and carry it across hundreds of miles to dispense as offerings in Śiva shrines
HAR KI PAURI: Jai Ganga Maa Hark i Pauriid famous Ghat on the bank of the Ganges in Haridwar in Uttrakhand. The revered place is the major landmark of the holy city of Haridwar literally “Hari” means Lord Shiva, “Ki” means Of and “Pauri” means Steps. The Ghat is in the west bank of Ganges canal through which the Ganges is diverted just into the north. The main attraction is the Ganga Aarti in the evening.
CHANDI DEVI TEMPLE: Is a Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Chandidevi in the holy city of Haridwar in the Uttrakhand. The temple is situated atop the Neel Parvat on the eastern summit of the Shivalik hills. Chandidevi temple was built in 1929 by Suchatsingh in the reign as the king of Kashmir. However, the main murti of Chandidevi at the temple is said to have been installed in the 8th century by Adi Shankaracharya.
MANSA DEVI TEMPLE: Is a Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Mansa Devi in the holy city of Haridwar in Uttrakhand. The temple is located at Bilwaparval Shivalik hills. The term Mansa means Wish & it is believed the goddess fulfils all the wishes of a sincere devotee. Mansa Devi temple is a Sidh pith.
DAKSHESHWARA MAHADEV TEMPLE: Is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in the town of Kankhal about 4Km of Haridwar, Uttrakhand. It is named after Daksha Prajapati, the father of Sati, Daksha is one of the fourteen Prajapati’s, who preside over procreation& are the protector of life in Hindu mythology.
NEEL DHARA PAKSHI VIHAR: Is a paradise for the bird watchers & trekkers as it is blessed with wildlife, flora & fauna in abundance. It is situated at the distance of 3.5Km from Haridwar. SHANTI KUNJ: Is the headquarters of the spiritual and social organisation. ALL WORLD GAYATRI PARIVAR ( AWGP ) established in 1971 at Haridwar. It is situated at the bank of the holy Ganges & between the Shivalik ranges of the Himalaya’s. it is located 6Km from Haridwar railway station towards Rishikesh/Dehradun on NH 58. It is also well known for its delicious sweets and is also the place of attraction for tourists & seekers of spiritual guidance.
SAPT RISHI ASHRAM: Also referred to as SaptSarovar, the Sapt Rishi Ashram is a frequently visited site in the holy town of Haridwar-Rishikesh road. It is at a distance of 5Km from Hark ki Pauri. According to Hindu Tradition, the ashram is the place where seven sages ( known as saptarishis ) has once meditated. The seven sages ( or Rishis ) include KASHYAP, VASHISHT, ATRI, VISHWAMITRA, JAMAGADI, BHARDWAJA & GAUTAM.
